The short answer
Most Sydney homes we quote land between $4,000 and $12,000 fully installed, after the federal rebate comes off. A typical 6.6kW system sits at the lower half of that range, a 10kW system in the upper half, and a 13kW system or a system with a battery pushes past it. Every quote we give is a fixed price: the number on the quote is the number you pay.
What moves the price
Four things change the cost more than anything else. System size is the obvious one: more panels and a bigger inverter cost more, but also save more. Roof type and access matter: a steep tile roof or a double storey home takes longer than a single storey tin roof. Your switchboard: older boards with ceramic fuses usually need an upgrade before solar can be connected, which we quote up front rather than springing on you later. And equipment choice: there is a genuine quality range in panels and inverters, and we will explain what you get for the difference rather than just quoting the cheapest thing that works.
How the rebate works
The federal incentive (small-scale technology certificates, or STCs) is not a cheque you claim afterwards. It comes straight off the quoted price, and we handle all the paperwork. The rebate reduces gradually each year, so the same system costs slightly more to install each January than it did the December before.
What about payback?
It depends on how much of your solar you use during the day, which is why we design from your actual bills instead of averages. For most homes we see, the system pays for itself in three to five years, and panels are warranted for 25. We will show you the expected production and savings numbers before you commit to anything.
Numbers on this page are honest general guidance for Sydney homes, not a quote. Your roof, usage and network connection change the maths, which is exactly why we quote from your actual bills, free.
